Title:  Materials Planner

Job Summary: 

Ensures the availability of raw materials at the required quantity, right time and place at the least possible cost. 

1. Supply Planning

• Secures safety stock level of all raw and packaging materials to Assigned Area and acts as a central axis of information/coordination with other departments on supply-related concerns of the area.
• Monitors and executes strategic inventory replenishment of handled raw and packaging materials thru:
  • Direct deliveries from suppliers to feed mills and external warehouses
  • Transfer from external warehouses to feed mills
  • Inter-feed mill transfers, if needed.

2. Demand Planning

• Analyzes and provides variance explanation on forecasted versus actual usage and price to ensure accurate data for planning

3. Inventory Planning and Control Management

• Prepares weekly dispatch plan (Synchronized Dispatch and Acceptance program) based on Material Replenishment Plan to serve feed mill requirements
• Manages aging of raw and packaging materials to prevent slow moving, non-moving and obsolete materials.
•  Monitors day to day operational concerns and recommend solutions in order to bridge inventory planning gaps
• Computes the additional purchase requests thru buy plan that considers stock on hand, PO balance, in-transit, lead time and target safety stock level

4. Warehousing and distribution

• Prioritizes dispatch allocation based on need and availability of raw and packaging materials
• Coordinates with logistics and third party services  to ensure efficient delivery and acceptance
• Allocates raw and packaging materials per area cluster based on desired days level to maximize efficient warehouse capacity for both feed mills and external warehouses

5. Financial Analysis

• Performs periodic pricing sensitivity and movement plan of raw materials to serve as basis for strategic management decision such as least cost feeds formulation, hedging, trading, financial projections, etc.
• Analyzes and provides variances explanation on planned versus actual prices, usages, inventory and funds utilization for strategic management decision.
• Generates information and data to support long and short term planning during Annual Budget Planning and Operations Review

6. Systems and Process Improvement

• Analyzes and determines gaps and improvements to the current system processes, resources, and business structures
•  Recommends and implements process and system improvements to increase productivity

7. Computer Skills

• Creates Purchase Requisitions for new requirements of raw and packaging materials handled, defaulted either to feed mill or external warehouse, based on projected usages and taking into account current system inventories and movement.
• Initiates requisition activities through NIRS (New Item Request System) for material code creation and extension

8. Problem Solving 

• Elevates issues and concerns pertaining to raw materials handled for possible resolution in the weekly Sales, Supply and Operations Planning (SSOP) discussion with  Feeds Mancom, Supply Chain Manager and SMFI President
• Provides information in coordination meetings organized by Local Mancom and serves as representative of the Operations Planning department in attending to raw material-related concerns
