Job Purpose
Primarily responsible in translating new products or processes to the plant to ensure compliance to customer's standards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibility 1: PROCESS DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
Process design development for new products based on customer requirements/ standards
Tasks:
- Reviews feasibility of new product based on equipment availability, carcass balance, and process capability to assess details in the PD Brief generated by PD for approval of Operations Planning (OpPlan), Processing, Finance, Supply Chain Manager and AIC President.
- Develops the processes needed for product realization suitable to produce the product according to customer requirements and product specifications.
- Coordinates with Sales and Marketing, Product Development, Operations Planning (OpPlan), Processing, Logistics and Quality Control Poultry and Meats (QCPM) on the requirements of new products to prepare initial samples for customer approval.
- Conducts trial run of new products with SMPFC or FSI Product Development Group and Processing Group to establish parameters/ standards.
- Gathers and prepares data file for upload of Bill of Materials (BOM) in System Applications Products (SAP) to submit excel BOM file for upload in SAP.
- Prepares and analyzes data and recoveries together with Technical Training and Audit Services (TTAS) Specialist and Finance Analyst to standardize processing yields for costing purposes.
- Prepares Product Information Sheets (PIS) in accordance with Quality and Food Safety Management System standards.
Responsibility 2: PRODUCT TRANSLATION AND PROCESS VALIDATION
Translation of new products and processes into commercial scale production and validation of existing products and processes
Tasks:
- Plans and coordinates the product translation activities in plants.
- Recommends changes to raw materials or components and process parameters to ensure quality is maintained during commercial production.
- Conducts technology transfer of new, existing, and modified products to prepare the plant for the commercial production.
- Assists the plant in the first production run to ensure that all product standards and parameters are met.
- Attends to internal quality control issues related to specifications and changes in customer requirements.
- Reviews and validates processes and yields of existing products for efficiency improvement and costing review.
Responsibility 3: PRODUCT AND PROCESS KNOWLEDGE ORIENTATION
Orientation of SMFI employees and toll plant personnel on poultry and meats product.
Tasks:
- Prepares and updates Product and Process Knowledge module applicable to all departments of SMFI and Toll key personnel.
- Conducts orientation on Product Knowledge.
- Gives feedback to the immediate superior on the effectiveness of training based on training assessment results.
Responsibility 4: Customer Focus
Coordination of customers’ product specifications and other process requirements.
Tasks:
- Attends to customer meetings related to processes from determination of requirements, review of requirements to customer communications (customer complaints, corrective action).
- Responds to customer calls, liaises with suppliers of raw materials, and resolves production issues with regard to product and process design.
Responsibility 5: Continual Improvement
Tasks:
- Improves yields by reducing costs or by use of alternative materials or new machinery to improve efficiency, quality and yields.
- Recommends cost reduction program by way of applying lean manufacturing methodologies and through improving efficiencies and yield.
- Helps achieve the objectives of reduced cost, better quality, and improved delivery performance by applying life-cycle management approach.
- Gives advises on possible equipment modification to enable process changes for new product development.
Responsibility 6: Records Management
Management of technical documents
Tasks:
- Devises, produces, and keeps reference documents needed to provide evidence and confidence that processes and resulting product conforms or satisfies the requirements.
- Writes technical reports and specifications.
Responsibility 7: Other Duties and Responsibilities
