Title:  Safety Engineer

The Safety Engineer reports administratively and functionally to the Safety Chief. He is charged with advising the Safety Chief on matters involving the organization and effective implementation of safety, environmental protection and operation, and fire oil/ chemical prevention/ protection, and emergency preparedness and response programs. It is his responsibility to keep and maintain fire protection, oil and chemical spill control equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE) and immediately respond to fire, gaseous release or oil and chemical spill incidents.  It is also his duty to effectively implement safety programs, fire prevention, oil and chemical spill prevention and mitigation, environmental protection and security programs and coordinates compliance and implementation of safety, health, environment and security procedures and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:   

FORMAL EDUCATION:

B.S. Engineering graduate.

MENTAL - Initiative, resourcefulness and industrious.

MANUAL -  Able to test, inspect, maintain and repair of both wheeled and portable fire extinguishers. Able to drive and operate service vehicles and firefighting equipment. Able to operate various safety and oil spill control equipment, e.g., gas testers, SCBA, oil spill boom, oil skimmers, speed boat, etc.

INTERPERSONAL - Ability to get along with others.
