Feedmill Maintenance Engineer – BMP-Leyte

Position Summary

The Feedmill Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of all plant equipment and utilities of BMP-Leyte. The role supports 24-hour feedmill operations by implementing robust preventive and predictive maintenance systems, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring optimal performance of critical machinery including grinding, mixing, pelleting, and utility systems. The position also plays a key role in plant expansion projects and continuous improvement initiatives.



Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance Planning and Execution

Develop and implement a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS) for all production and utility equipment.
Lead and supervise daily maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and major overhauls.
Ensure immediate and effective response to breakdowns to minimize production losses.
Coordinate maintenance activities during planned shutdowns and off-peak operations.



2. Equipment Reliability and Plant Operations Support

Ensure reliability and optimal performance of critical equipment, including:
Hammer mills, mixers, pellet mills, and conveyors
Gyro sifter systems (monitoring recurring issues and coordinating repairs with machine shops)
Bucket elevators and material handling systems
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Monitor and improve equipment efficiency, availability, and lifecycle performance.



3. Utilities and Auxiliary Systems Management

Oversee operation and maintenance of key utility systems, including:
Boiler system (approx. 200 BHP capacity) and steam distribution
Air compressor systems (including aging screw compressor units)
Electrical systems and coordination during power interruptions (e.g., voltage irregularities with LEYECO)
Water systems including rainwater harvesting facility (proposed project)
Ensure all utilities are operating within safe and optimal parameters to support production.



4. Project Implementation and Continuous Improvement

Actively participate in plant improvement and expansion projects, including:
Raw Material Warehouse Expansion Project (capacity increase and layout optimization)
Rainwater Harvesting Facility Project (flood mitigation and drainage system)
Equipment upgrades (e.g., compressor replacement, storage tank capacity increase)
Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders for project execution.
Ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and systems.



5. Safety, Compliance, and Regulatory Requirements

Ensure strict compliance with company safety policies and government regulations.
Support compliance with applicable engineering and operational laws (e.g., mechanical and electrical standards).
Participate in safety audits, hazard identification, and incident investigations.
Promote a culture of safety and zero-accident objectives within the maintenance team.



6. Spare Parts and Inventory Management

Maintain optimal inventory levels of critical spare parts to avoid operational delays.
Monitor usage trends and establish reorder points for essential components.
Coordinate with procurement for timely sourcing of materials and services.



7. Documentation, Reporting, and KPI Monitoring

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and downtime incidents.
Prepare and submit regular reports on:
Equipment performance
Downtime analysis
Maintenance costs and efficiency
Track and improve key KPIs such as:
Equipment uptime and availability
Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)



8. Team Leadership and Coordination

Supervise and manage maintenance personnel, including technicians and contractors.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance evaluation.
Coordinate closely with Production, Warehouse, and Quality teams to ensure smooth plant operations.



Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Licensed Engineer (preferred, in compliance with Philippine regulations).
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in feedmill, manufacturing, or industrial plant operations.
Strong background in mechanical systems, utilities, and troubleshooting.
